The Past or The Future?

Last Saturday, we had a chance to go to an art gallery which showed photos of Chiang Mai in the past (and some at present). Seeing those photos, an interesting idea had come to my mind. I would ask you if you were not in the world today, which one do you choose to live between the future world (1,000 years ahead) and the past world (1,000 years ago)? Why?

For me, I choose to live in the future world because I’ve already seen some photos of the past and learnt some history when I was in elementary and secondary school, but in next 1,000 years, I won't have a chance to see or what the world would be. I want to know how the world and the people would change. What kind of dress will we be wearing? What type of music will we be listening to? How could we travel? By a hovercraft on the street? Or even by flying like Superman? Will we be living on other planets? Besides, I want to know whether the world would be like the scientists today have predicted; some said that the world would be hit by a large armageddon and exploded into pieces.

However, the past has passed and the future’s not ours to see. I keep telling myself that just live everyday as happily as I can because I don’t know how long I will be able to live in this beautiful world, so I won’t regret spending any single minute of my life.

  2. Personally, I choose to live in the present world because I have learnt and been familiar to spend my life in the time which I have my parents, my friends or my beloved people. But if I could choose to live in the age I want, I would choose to live in the past. I think that life in the past is so simple. There would be less competition and less social chaos. Significantly, the good past can make the good future.

  3. If I have chance to choose live in the past, present or in the future, I would like to live in the future.
In the future, I will travel back to the past whenever I want by using my time machine. Also I will live in a floating house. Maybe someone will say there no time machine yet. Well, I will choose to live in the world that already has one.
Honestly, I really like this topic. But as you said the past has passed and the future’s not ours to see. There no “if” in this real “present” world. I should focus on today and live the best I can.

  4. You make me think of intelligent gadgets from Doraemon, a robot cat from Japanese comic book. If we have a time machine, it would be really interesting to get to see the future world and may even go back to the past. However, I'd rather live with the present. Since the future is not yet to be seen and we can't turn back time to correct the past, I want to do and think the best for my present time. There's sure times that I feel the uncertainty of the present, and I'm not sure if what I do or what I'm going to decide is right; but I think the answer would be the most suitable one at the time. I think present is what create the future. Be good and do good, you will receive goodness, at least to your peaceful mind.
