Chocolate: Only Fat-Rich Snack?


I believe that many of you have chocolate as a favourite sweet including me. Chocolate is a very popular dessert for many people who are crazy in it for a long time. However, there are some chocolate lovers who are still afraid of eating it. Chocolate is often considered something poison or something you should not eat. It is always blamed that can cause many problems such as obesity, acne and even the cavities because it is full of sugar and fats.

However, there is some good news for chocolate lovers. The researcher shows the study that phenol in cocoa can lower the blood pressure which can be dangerous for the heart disease by selected parallel group at random studied evaluating the effects of cocoa products or black or green tea for at least 7 days. For people who try to avoid eating chocolate because of the effect on health, after you have known about this thing you would change your mind.

Consumption of cocoa is a good way that can make the consumer healthier. The study suggests that flavanol-rich cocoa can improve blood vessel function and reduce the formation of damaging clots. So, apart from the phenol in chocolate will help to reduce heart disease, cocoa beans also help the blood pressure lower and a reduced risk of death. Moreover, in dark chocolate, there is the anti-dioxidants in cocoa which is same in the fruits and vegetables. This anti-dioxidants has the benefit that reduces the risk of developing cancer. Therefore, eating chocolate especially dark chocolate could be the healthy way for people who like to eat it. It means that the darker chocolate you eat the more cocoa in chocolate that make you healthier.

For the people who afraid of the effects that come with chocolate such as obesities or cavities, if you choose to consume chocolate in the right way you will not suffer from that effects. It is not chocolate that causes weight gain but it is sugar and milk to make it sweet and delicious. In contrast, there are certain substances in the cocoa of chocolate which are known to actually kill off the bacteria that cause your tooth decay, resulting in cavities.

Moreover, this fact is especially for girls like us, the components in cocoa may actually help improve the appearance of women's skin increasing hydration, decreasing skin roughness and scaling, and helping to support the skin's defense against UV damage. And this is the reason why some of models like to eat chocolate before they will be on the catwalk and many skin cream and cosmetics products has chocolate as an ingredient.

Finally, I would like to warn that everything in this world has both sides including chocolate. Chocolate has both advantages and disadvantages. If you choose to eat it in the right way or in the moderate amounts, you will get many benefits from chocolate. However, if you eat it too much, you will suffer from many diseases.

    --- First of all, thanks for sharing this. I never know that chocolate helps prevent cancer.

    I also love eating chocolate. I'm not sure if it is only a myth when ones say that chocolate is able to make you feel better, for example, having warm chocolate before going to bed would make you feel relaxed and able to fall asleep easily --- but to me, I agree with the saying.

    Every time when I'm upset, after taking chocolate, I feel much better about the problem I'm facing, even when the problem has not been solved at all. I gain courage from the sweetness, and the bitterness of chocolate also gives me strength to face the problem. I have nothing to prove if the feeling is real, nor I 'know' if it is real. I don't even know if it is actually my own mind that create chocolate as a savior, but it is the result of feeling good that I expect.

    I'll taking your warning about taking a proper amount of chocolate... because "too much candy is sure going to rot your soul." ;)

  2. I do really love chocolate, particularly dark chocolate. I feel more relax after I eat chocolate. When I was at home, I usually drank hot chocolate in the morning, it freshen me up. My refrigerator never lack of chocolate.

    According to many health’s TV programs I have watched, dark chocolate is healthier than milk chocolate and white chocolate.

    To be honest, I never know that “the components in cocoa may actually help improve the appearance of women's skin increasing hydration, decreasing skin roughness and scaling, and helping to support the skin's defense against UV damage.” It is a good news for the ladies, thank you for sharing this.

  3. I am a chocolate lover too!!!! It is good to know that not only it is delicious but also healthy and help us feel happy too. Now I can eat it without worry anymore.
